ABOUT US
Steve Pierce and Maggie Brandt are dedicated to historic preservation, with a track record of tackling some of the most challenging restoration projects—many in Ypsilanti. Since 1997, they have restored and made their home in the historic 1893 Glover House in Ypsilanti, Michigan, and preserved the original mid-century modern 1959 Bivens House in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Their newest project is the ongoing restoration of the former First Congregational Church, just five blocks from their home in downtown Ypsilanti.
Built in 1882 and acquired in 2018, this historic building had sat mostly unused for over a decade. Now undergoing restoration, the Ypsilanti Performance Space—fondly known as The YPSI—features a 250-seat concert hall, 5,000 square feet of flexible event space, and ample off-street parking. It is poised to become an ideal venue for concerts, weddings, and special events.
Steve and Maggie’s passion and expertise continue to make a lasting impact on preserving significant buildings in the community.
While the historic Concert Hall and Eldon Hall are being renovated, limited events can be scheduled in these spaces. The Annex has been fully renovated and hosts events year-round. It offers four offices for rent and a 1,000-square-foot Community Room, available for shows, receptions, meetings, or private parties, with seating for up to 75 and dinners for up to 50. Additional amenities include a kitchenette, ADA-compliant bathrooms, super-fast 1 gigabyte fiber internet, 55 off-street parking spaces, and a comprehensive selection of event rental equipment to accommodate your unique gathering from audiovisual, broadcast, and live streaming tools, staging and lighting equipment, to food & beverage supplies. The Annex also has one of the largest solar arrays in the city generating all the electricity for the entire building along with 9 EV charging stations.
